Do Something Different

IT'S TIME FOR YOU, THEY AND THEM.

"Doing Something Different" has always been a passion of mine because it allows you to express yourself to your perfection.  Your loved one and you have never lived life from a standpoint of "Just Get It Done" or "I Don't Care What You Do" , their life and your standards are far above these ten words. After years of dedicating their life to you and helping you become who you are, its time to  "Do Something Different" for them. They took the time for you and now you must take the time for them.  At times, they were unsure of what to do next and they reached out to others for advise and now it's your turn to reach out to others for advise.  I am thankful that you reached out to Whiting Funeral Home and I am looking forward to offering you our most important service  "Our Time"

INFORMATION IS A POWERFUL TOOL

As a consumer myself, I like to know what is going on and I like to know my options. For most people, they only make funeral arrangements once or twice in their lifetime and sign a funeral contract within 60 minutes of the arrangement conference. The third largest expense in life is usually unexpected and unplanned yet we want to travel this road as quickly as possible.  If we rush the process, mistakes will surely happen. Let's take our time and do it right.  I hope this website helps you to take this journey with confidence and clarity. But remember, you are not traveling alone, Whiting Funeral Home will always be there at every turn, every stop sign, every breakdown and every rest stop.

Brief Interview

I enjoy and respect the funeral profession.

I have always had a passion and a dream to be a funeral director. I enjoy helping families during their time of need and I care about people. I am excited about coming to work everyday. I truly believe, if I am not excited about helping you or I lose my ability to be compassionate,   I should not be in the funeral business.

Personal Challenge - Perfection

Although life is not perfect, my personal challenge is spending too much time trying to make your loved one's service perfect.  In my opinion, a Home Going service is the one event in life that deserves to go perfect.

WHAT TO DO IF

Death Occurs Out of State

If a death occurs out of state, you should contact Whiting Funeral Home ( 215) 298 9070 and we will make all of the necessary calls to have your loved one returned to Philadelphia.

If Death Occurs in a Facility or Institution

If a death occurs in a hospital or health care home  (nursing or convalescent), the facility will contact you at the time of your loved ones passing and ask if its ok for the facility to contact the funeral or do you want to call the funeral home.  We would prefer that the immediate family contact the funeral home, however if you cannot be contacted, the facility will contact the funeral home.  In most situations, at the time of admission, you were asked to provide the names, address and telephone  number of the funeral home to contact in the event of an emergency.  If your love one passes in a hospital, the hospital will call you directly and not the funeral home.  Hospitals do not keep a record of what funeral home to call in the event of a death.  Once you have received the call of your love one passing, you are not required to return to the hospital or nursing facility  to sign any papers or grant autorization for the  funeral home  to pick up your loved one.  However, if you  and family members wouild lke to see your loved one before the funeral home picks them up, you are more than  welcome to do so.

Unanticipated Death at Home or Elsewhere

In this situation you should contact 911. Police and emergency medical personnel will then determine the appropriate steps to take. Generally, the authorities can release your loved directly to Whiting Funeral Home, so that preparations may begin.  In some situations where the cause of death may not be yet be known, your loved one may be taken to the medical examiner's office.

Ananticipated Death at Home

Often, when someone is faced with a terminal illness, the family will decide make arrangement in advance-saving them the time and emotional decision needed at the time of death. Many people with terminal illness are more comfortable at home under the care of hospice in the final stages of their illness. In this situation, you should infomr hospice that you have chosen Whiting Funeral Home. Hospice will then supervise the necessary legal requirements.
